The analysis of historical data reveals that shifting agriculture has been the predominant driver of tree cover loss, contributing to significant carbon emissions. The year 2022 alone saw over 159 hectares of tree cover lost due to this practice, resulting in approximately 239,579 Mg of CO2 equivalent emissions. This pattern of land use change highlights the need for sustainable agricultural practices that can balance the needs of the population with environmental conservation.
As Mali continues to face these environmental challenges, the focus on preserving its natural resources becomes increasingly crucial for the country's ecological stability and the well-being of future generations.
