The trend of tree cover loss has been escalating, with the most significant loss recorded in 2017, amounting to over 171,000 hectares. Although there has been some gain in tree cover, the net change remains negative, indicating a critical need for sustainable land management practices to reverse the trend.
As Nigeria continues to address these environmental issues, the focus on preserving and expanding tree cover is more crucial than ever to ensure the ecological balance and health of the nation.
